ExxonMobil is doing more than any oil company to block international action on global warming. While the rest of the world tries to stop global warming, ExxonMobil spends millions of dollars sabotaging US participation in the Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement to reduce climate-changing gases. We need your help to stop Exxon to stop global warming.
ExxonMobil's global brand is Esso and Exxon merged with Mobil to become
ExxonMobil. Whether the brand you know is Exxon, Esso or Mobil, it's the same climate criminal the world over!
Here are five reasons why ExxonMobil is worse than other oil companies.
1. ExxonMobil tries to convince the public that global warming isn't happening even though ExxonMobil is one of its main causes. ExxonMobil spends millions of dollars on misleading propaganda every year.
2. ExxonMobil has played a leading role in sabotaging international attempts to stop global warming. It would rather sell more gasoline/petrol than protect future generations.
3. ExxonMobil refuses to invest in clean, green energy and instead spends its money on dirty oil and gas. Even Shell and BP will each invest US$500 million over the next three years in green energy projects.
4. ExxonMobil is the biggest oil company in the world - its profits totalled more than US$12 billion in 2000. If anyone can afford to help stop global warming it is
ExxonMobil.
5. ExxonMobil was one of the main financial contributors to George Bush's election campaign. As soon as George Bush became president, he announced that the US would pull out of international agreements to stop global warming - exactly the position that ExxonMobil was promoting.
