Great care is taken to provide you with a friendly and reliable service and
most importantly a healthy catch. It is for this reason all our guides are
keen anglers who speak perfect English and enjoy to fish with you on your
day trip.

River Island Tours was founded in 1995 by two brothers Andreas and Zakos
who were both born and brought up in England. As keen Anglers they saw the
opportunity to provide an Angling service after experiencing the superb
Fishing in Cyprus’s dams.

In May 1997 we were pleased to become the exclusive representatives of Cyprus Angling Holidays
making us the largest and most knowledgeable operators in Cyprus.

Fishing in various reservoirs approximately 200 days of the year and keeping
in close contact with local Anglers gave us updated knowledge of all
fishing conditions. We provided you with accurate information for your
Fishing Holiday.
 In 2004 Zak changed his life. He became the wizard of Oz.

River Island Tours kept close contact with the Cyprus Fisheries
authorities. Over the years we have been able to work with the fisheries to
improve the fishing conditions and tackle any arising problems.

In June 98 River Island organised a day fishing with a number of volunteers.
This was to catch Tench from Dhypotamos for the Fisheries to take to breed
and restock other reservoirs in the coming year.

In August, due to the extremely hot weather we had this year and the
low water levels there was a danger of Fish dying in Achna. The solution of
the problem was to use a pump to circulate the water and take a quantity of
fish out of the reservoir. With the use of nets and the help of several Day
Trippers bagging up with Carp we were able temporarily
to relocate a number of Carp to tanks in the area.
When the water levels rise to normal we will return the carp .
Achna had continued to fish well and was producing bags of
an average 60 lb.’s.
and we had daily catches reaching up to 240 lb.’s.
We would like to thank George Christofides and George Anastiades (Fisheries
officers) who helped with the situation on their own time.

However continuous efforts are being made to improve Fishing conditions and
we are continuously making new proposals to the head of Fisheries.
